Moments in time that capture the experiences of Being a Meanderthal
Bang Bao Pier, Koi Chang
Bang Bao Pier located in the sleepy fishing village of Bang bao at the southern most location of Koi Chang.
Is a local tourist attraction of Koi Chang, the first half of the pier is enclosed and supports a multitude of market style stores that sell everything from dried fish to curios and Ice cream with the second half of the pier being open and has magnificent colourful wooden boats that service the fishing village and the tourism boats of Koi Chang. at the very end of the pier there is a magnificent old school lighthouse that is very picturesque and just draws you in for that fabulous photo opportunity
Night Markets at Pai, Mae Hong Son province Northern Thailand
Night markets on the Streets of Pai are a really low key and chilled experience it’s the perfect place to unwind after your day exploring the region, they offer a multitude of stalls that sell all sorts of curios to bring back as mementos from your time in Thailand. Not looking for curios then the local food stalls are amazing way to enjoy the flavours of Thailand as you stroll through the markets. I was lucky enough to visit them during the build-up to the Loy Krathong lantern festival which 8-9th Nov each year. Here they lit up the street giving off an ambience that made for great vibes and pictures.
Off Road Motor Biking in Thailand
Off road motorbike riding in the wilds of Thailand is amazing fun This picture was taken on an off the beat track near the village of Ban Pha Peng near Chiang Mai, Thailand. The surrounding farms and jungles are stunning.
The team at HiVolt Moto tours. offer top friendly, personalised and professional tours that cater to your needs Just tell Grace & P’Lah Mr Meanderthal sent you and they’ll look after you (link Below). I can’t speak highly enough of them. It really is the most fun you can have with two wheels.
233Km Long, it is arguably the toughest and well know hiking trails in Australia. Nestled in the West Macdonell ranges it meanders from Alice Springs to Mount Sounder. You can do it as a solo multiday Hike if you are an experience hiker.
But you will need support in the form of food drops and transfers from Mt Sonder at completion. I utilised Larapinta Trail Trek Support for this and found them to be great operators.
If you are a meanderthal that likes to go it alone or with friends and want to do a self-guided trip have a look at The Larapinta trail website as a good starting point. If 233km of trail is not your thing, then you can also do shorter sections of the trail as a day tripper either independently or as part of a tour. There’s a multitude of tour operators that can sort this for you and they’re all based in Alice Springs. a simple google search will help you there.
Be warned - Outback Australia is a harsh and unforgiving environment. do not take this walk lightly it is not for the beginner or faint hearted but do not let that deter you it is absolutely beautiful.
